window treatments

Please help me with ideas for window treatments that do NOT require them to be custom made. I’m more classic contemporary and I love black, white, gray. My accent color is green

I think we need a bit more information here. Do you need light control, privacy? Do you just want the lower windows treated? Unfortunately when you have a space like this it’s not that easy to dress theses windows properly unless you do custom.

There is currently a shade under the current treatment we use mainly when we travel..Just a bit of privacy would be needed, there are no home behind the house just a walkway rarely used ( you can peek thru the gate if you were snooping) I just found out hubby’s golf friends are snoopers lol..I think not taking the window treatment up some just cuts the height of the room in half and the upper upper window is an awkward shape which would be impossible to even make a custom treatment look ok. See my dilemma?
    Awkward shape.

What are those treatments that are there now? I've never seen anything like them. Anything for the top window s is going to be custom so I would just ignore them. On the bottom do a much simpler valance such as a faux roman shed the same color as the wall.

I would consider painting that wall an accent color...to give it a little more personality...then remove the existing treatment and install either pull down bamboo shades....(more interesting...some light gets through with some privacy)...or some bottom up shades on the bottom window only...for privacy when needed...

One other option that provides a little privacy and a lot of drama would be sheers....in white you could use something with a little variation with a pattern...i would keep them closed mainly but install hooks at each side to drape to the side when you want them olen a little

Variation in weave ...not in color..

Installing a rod at the point where the angle begins ...(hanging the curtains on the rod )...leaving the upper triangle uncovered

What’s there now is from the previous owner...the window was bare underneath and than I added these shades...they go all the way down to the ledge. The shade is the same color as the walls....i would eventually love a BM light gray color.

Those shades are a bit skimpy, IMO. Take down what you have on the windows now and try top down./bottom up shades to control what you see, what the snoopers see and how much light comes in that might fade your furnishings and floors.

I, like many others, have the same window wall although my 2 upper windows are the same as the 2 lower windows; they are not odd pentagons like yours which will require custom work.

I think almost everyone in my neighborhood has the same window wall and some have used 2-story curtain panels that hang just on one side (lots of traditional people here, lol) but you don't have the stack room and also those uppers make that almost impossible.

When we moved in, this house had remote controlled Duettes on the upper windows and they, of course, didn't work. There is a small pocket park between us and the "backyard" neighbors but we are also at the bottom of a slight incline which puts those neighbors at eye level with my upper windows. I would have left the uppers bare except for that issue but it doesn't sound like you need that much privacy.

I used woven woods in a bamboo look for all four windows. The uppers stay closed; I didn't invest in fixing the wiring for the remote controls and the extra price of a feature I'd never use (the sun is a killer already). Since yours are not the same shape, I think you could just leave the uppers bare and use a woven wood (love mine but my furnishings are in no way considered "traditional") or fabric shade with a subtle pattern or print. I also like the sheers with a bit of texture idea.

No offense meant at all, but the first thing I thought of when I saw those valances were the Halloween goblin or ghost thingies.

The thing about “functional” shades is that they add no beauty to a room....just another big blank spot....that has to cover the whole window when you dont even need full coverage...🤷🏼‍♀️

No offense taken lol. I inherited them. They even left me the left over fabric for whatever reason lol...
I agree, that is why I’m trying to deal with this as soon as possible. It’s an open concept to the dining area in which I’ve made a mess of lol do they have to match or just be similar!
