last modified: 6 years ago

We have our retreat scheduled for Oct 6-11 2020 at Place of Grace . Please check your calendar and let me know who may be interested so I can finalize plans. She is planning on being open by then and we are still a go. I would like to make a Toilet Paper Quilt (https://javahousequilts.com/shop/were-on-a-bigger-roll) wall hanging to donate. If you are interested in making a "square" I will be happy to send you instructions.

We still have room for more, so check your calendars. So far we have:

Me

Jackie

Sharon

Char

Jennifer (maybe)

Robbi (maybe)

Lois, I'm at mom's right now. I'll check when I get home.

Char, no hurry I'll try to get it done in August.

As it turns out, my daughter and I will not be able to make the retreat. I'm very disappointed but am sure you ladies will have a wonderful time. Please send me the directions and I'll make a block or two.

Aww, I'm so sorry. We were looking forward to new faces. Next year maybe? I've sent the directions, thanks.

Beverly, I sent you my address via PM for the TP block pattern. You can also email it to me. Thanks. Lois

Thank you, Lois. I'll get it in the mail tomorrow.

Beverly, I mailed my tp block today. You should get it soon 😁
I did the roll pattern with the long tail.

Thank you, Char. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Beverly, I finished a toilet paper roll block today and will mail it tomorrow. I'm not 100% pleased with it. I haven't appliquéd for so long that I forgot I should have cut the pieces so that they laid under each other in some places. Oh well, live and learn, over and over. It's still pretty darn cute.

Thank you so much Lois, I love it. It will play nicely with the ones I have so far.

We still have room for more retreaters if anyone is interested.

I am really looking forward to the retreat and to meeting in person Beverly, Sharon, and Jackie and hopefully Jennifer, Linda and Robbi, too! I have never taken a whole week off all at once to quilt and I am starting to get projects ready to bring to work on and finish.

    grammyp thanked Char

Linda won't be able to make it. It's a long drive from California, and flying is a bit scary these days. We will miss you, maybe next year.

I'd love to see pictures when you get them finished. You are more than welcome to come back and use the big tables. We'd love to have you.

Great looking TP, Lois. Sorry Linda can't attend, but totally understand. Latifolia, Would be great to see you again if you can manage it. You'll probably be able to have 4 tables together without a problem.

Pushing this to the top as we are getting close. I can't wait! Looking forward to meeting Char in person. Looking forward to sneaking stuff into Sharon's suitcase :) Hoping that more of you might get to come. What are we bringing to play left right center??? Speak up GrammyP! Are any of you needing any type of fabric for a project? I can check my stash/hoarding for it. I am bringing lots of projects.

Of course we will play LRC. I'm thinking neutrals again this year. I'll send out an email with info next week sometime.

It is gonna be so nice to have Char join us, and to have Jennifer back.

I am really looking forward to the retreat! I have several quilts sandwiched and I think I am going to bring my old machine table to butt up against the big tables so I can support my quilts, one of which is the space quilt for my nephew....yes I'm still quilting it, lol. I do have several smaller projects rolling around in my head as well. You all will have to teach me how to play LRC, not sure I've ever played that game.

I tried to get my sister, Chris, to come as well, but she just moved to Florida and her house will be finished in the next month or so. She said she will be too busy for the next few months moving from the rental to the new house and settling in. Perhaps I can convince her next year!

Char, you will have plenty of table space. The tables are like 6 feet long and you would have 2 of them since there are not that many of us. Where do you live? I don't think I ever asked that. :)

Char, if you run out of projects we can hook you up.

I live in S. Illinois about an hour north of Paducah. It will prolly take me a little over 4 hours to get to Place of Grace. I don't see myself ever running out of projects as I have four totes of ufo's presently, lol!

There is still room if anyone is interested.

What is the pricing breakdown again for 5 ppl?

Well, as of today, Tim tendered his resignation at one hospital and will be going back to his old job at the local hospital. So he will be coming along and will be hiking while I sew. So now there are 6. With 6 it will be $250 total each, plus meals. I'll send out an email to everyone this weekend.

We will be making a meal plan as well, right. I can do a couple dinners & bring stuff for lunch/breakfast as needed...& snacks of course ;-P

Do we have any plans to go out to eat for a meal or two?

Beverly, Have you given Jackie that 'thing' I sent to you for her yet? :-)

Yup, we will have a plan and shopping list mostly worked out. Generally we are on our own for breakfast and lunch, then take turns making a dinner. I usually bring home made vegetable soup and make cornbread for the first night. Choices for eating out are, shall we say, very limited. Jackie usually brings chicken salad and pimento cheese and that is what I eat for lunch. We all bring snacks, and the snack table is always awesome. They usually have plenty of coffee and a nice tea selection. There is a nice Amish fruit/vegetable stand not far away and I like to see what the have available.

Sharon, what 'thing' are we talking about? Or should I even ask? I will bring lots of homemade chicken salad and homemade pimento cheese, breads and some other sandwich fixings. Of course I will bring some snacks. Bev, bring extra soup! I like it! I can have it for breakfast LOL

Yes, ma'am, I have the thing.

I will bring lots of soup. If there is any left you can take it home.

I'll bring my mom's recipe for pepper steak for a dinner and I make a raw vegie layer salad that we can eat for lunch or a side. I also make pretty good fresh tomato salsa if anyone is interested. 😋

Char, we love everything except shellfish/fish LOL Salsa sounds good. I like salty snacks and retreat week is open season on eating. I break off my low carb diet for that week. :)

Beverly, There won't be any soup left. Breakfast, lunch, supper..... Jackie, love your chicken salad and pimento cheese. The 'thing' is a hmmmm, what is that thing??? You know how forgetful I am....hmmmm, I think it had blue on it. LOLOLOL If Laurel comes, maybe she'll make her meatloaf......oh yum....I'll even pay her for the ingredients and to make it! Char, Homemade salsa is the best!

Since Teresa doesn't plan to be there this year, there probably won't be any coffee making accidents. I really couldn't see what I was doing. Honest!

Char, pepper steak sounds wonderful, and I love salsa. Like Jackie said, no shellfish unless you want to watch me swell up and turn red.

Sharon, I think it was blue .....
