Expensive Pella quote for 2 doors and 3 windows

We are looking to replace two separate entry doors (standard 36x80, no sidelights or transoms), a large picture window, and two standard-size smaller windows (one in dining room and one over the kitchen sink). We got a quote from Pella for $14,000 - which seems pretty steep to me. That is for two steel entry doors (one half-glass and one quarter-glass) and 3 vinyl windows.

We are in the DC-metro area so things are always more expensive, but wow. I should add that my house is a 1970s split level (not split foyer) in a suburban area, so it's nothing fancy or high-end. Am I right in thinking that this seems expensive? It's hard to tell because none of the window/door places post prices online... you have to have someone come to your house and they always try to pressure you into a sale.

This is an easy one...wait a bit until Eric from Windows on Washington shows up and you will be well served.

In my opinion Windows on Washington will be your absolute best option (I am assuming that you are within his territory based on your location).

Why do you want to replace your doors? Do they need to be replaced, or you just don't like the style?

Setting aside the price, Pella is not a good choice for doors or windows. They have great marketing--which the price includes. I suggest you do more research on other brands, and get other quotes. For vinyl windows, look at Okna. For doors, look at HMI. I am not sure if you would think the HMI doors expensive, but for steel entry doors, maybe not. Glass always adds significantly to the cost of a door. You at least get good quality with that price.
