Is the rest of your house brick, siding or a combo? Siding actually takes paint well, so painting both is an option. If it’s just the front of the house that is brick, I would absolutely paint it. Are there any colors that you are drawn to?

The brick is the best feature of your house.

You need another door or door color.

And I think your roof needs maintenance.

I like the brick. The shutters should go. The windows are not right for them. I would paint the posts white.

I think it would look wonderful painted the same color as the siding. It's so neutral that you could pick any color you love for the door and shutters. I think the shutters add some interest to the upper windows, whether they are considered "correct" or not.

You can upload your house pics to some paint company websites and "paint" it different colors. Or maybe some kind photoshopper here will paint it for you so you can have a visual. Oh, I'd paint the garage door to match the siding, too.

Don't paint the brick. If you must paint something paint the siding. Lose the very wrong looking/sized shutters.

Absolutely remove the shutters first and then step back and see how it looks.

IMO paint the siding i think painting brick immediately devalues your house . Remove the shutters for sure. You need to match the door to the garage for sure and IMO what you really need is landscaping and a widenng of the piece in front of the house if you want furniture out there. Do the siding in a nice gray/ green it will go much better with the brick. I'm in the yes category on painting the brick. However, please be aware, that once painted the brick can never be "unpainted" as it will damage both the brick and the mortar joints. Painting will lend cohesion to the entire facade. I would suggest removing the shutters. Would also suggest beefing up the porch columns. They look undersized. Might suggest also that you add a third column between the two existing ones. The span is too long between the two. One last thing - your garage door looks somewhat out of place with the rest of the house. It looks to be a good quality door with a nice hardwood finish. Not sure what to suggest for it except after you get your changes made take a good look at it to see if it really matches the rest. Good luck!

I would:

1) Remove and not reinstall the shutters. They are appropriate on only one of the windows.

2) Budget allowing, change to a different, more appropriate style front door.

3) Paint the siding a darker tone that works better with the brick and roof.

4) Landscaping in front of the porch.

I think the brick is the most interesting feature of the house, so I wouldn't paint it. Nice landscaping and some large pots of flowers would be a better update for your home. Also - paint the posts the white of the trim color, and paint the front door a tone that works with the rest of the home. The cushions on your settee look a bit tired - try replacing those, too...

An issue that you have is that your eye has nowhere to rest...yellow door, green cushions, turquoise side table, dark brown garage door, blue shutters....focus on blending those pieces, and you will be amazed!
