I live in a 1910 rowhouse and want to add built-ins around my living room fireplace. The space on each side of the fireplace is almost symmetrical ( 10 ft ceilings by 60 inches wide) but on the left a window around the corner will limit the depth of the shelves (4 inches to window molding, 4.5 inch molding). Has anyone seen/implemented a design that would allow the shelf depth to reduce to accomodate a window? I don't need/or want any closed cabinetry, just book and display space with lighting. Will probably add crown molding also to integrate shelves. Any ideas?
