Thank you so much... and that is it! We're planning to edge around the bush and add some border since it sits on a slope and most water runs down hill from it. We'll remove the grass and add some compost and mulch and trim when its time. Thank you again!

part of its problems is that it has been pruned into sorta a tree form.. and this shrub aint buying that ... it also looks like it is lacking for light.. and leaning out to get over that ... was something that shaded it removed???

btw: the dog looks stoned.. whats that all about.. lol ...

again .. if yours is not extremely fragrant.. just be done with it.. build a new bed .. and then get a very good one ...

after it done blooming.. i might be tempted to just cut it down to 6 to 8 inches.. and watch it go crazy with no insult to the massive root mass .. unless you go in there to remove the grass and excessively disturb such ... [yes.. i might go beyond the usual 1/3 cut back in rejuvenation pruning]...

they are a full sun plant ... so if yours is in less than such.. it just might not be a vigorous as otherwise ... but the way its flowering ... im thinking sun levels is just fine.. but i still dont get why its leaning so much ...

Thank you Ken for your comments and link. It is still fragrent and definetly needs some TLC pruning. Knowing now exactly what it is, I'll be sure to prune the old/dead wood and help shape it on the new growth after flowing and late summer. My guess is it was originally planted too close to the house (as was the majority of the other plants) and is reaching out. Thank you for your time and input!

I've got one that smokes in their back yard about 100' away, despite that distance the stink comes in my house when I have windows open during summer.

Another shrub that really carries is Clerodendrum trichotomum.
