Looks really nice. Much better than a bulky crate!

It looks great, but one of my big dogs would probably have eaten the sheetrock and the small dog would throw up in the back of the enclosure and ruin the floor/baseboard!

When we are out, the big dogs get the playroom and the little dog gets the laundry room, all with tile floors! We would leave the big dogs loose, but need to be able to set the motion sensor alarms in the house.

Moving beyond making fun of it at your expense, I think it looks nice also. I can tell you're proud of it. And as already said, much better than a bulky and unsightly crate taking up room on the floor. Well done! I've designed the same thing into a few houses as well.

We built a hideaway for our dog under the staircase but without a grate. She especially loves it when we get our daily summer thunderstorms.

So cute! Did you line your floor with something in case of an occasional accident or upset stomach? That would be my biggest concern. However, we have bigger dogs (3 Goldens) but DD has a beagle, who although cute as a button, would howl all night if locked in something like that. She would certainly chew the bars off. She sleeps in a crate on the porch to keep her from roaming at night but it has a plastic tray in the bottom for easy cleanup and spray off if needed.

We are doing something similar. Not under the stairs but cabinetry in the mudroom.

What a great idea! Our dogs love their crates too. I love the use of space that would otherwise be wasted.
