Mix of Tall Fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass

Basic care tips:

- Fescue does not tolerate scalping, It needs to be maintained at about 3".

- Apply fungicide on a regular basis through fall, as fescue is susceptible to brown patch. Typically every 28 days or as instructed by the product. Rotate Scotts Disease-Ex with Bayer Fungus Control every application.

- Both of those grasses are cool season grasses that struggle in the heat. They will require irrigation to survive, approximately 1 inch of water per week. You measure 1 inch by placing a tuna can in the yard when watering. When the tuna can is full, that's 1" of water. Regardless of that, if at any point you see the grass wilting, turning grayish in patches or even browning, water.

- Don't fertilize in the summer. Cool season grasses receive most of their fertilizer in the fall.

That's about it for now, come back early September and we'll see where you're at and what you need to do from there.

Looks like a mix of St Augustine and bermuda to me.

In any case, get your mower sharpened and raise the deck to the mower's highest setting before mowing again. You're mowing it too short.

The yellowing does look like a fungal disease. Can you please post another picture (here preferably) of just the yellow/brown blades? That will help id the grass and the solution. I would not put a fungicide down until you id the grass for certain.

What is your watering schedule? How often and for how long are you watering?

With the close up I'm leaning back to what lawniac said, fescue and KBG. A fungicide is probably called for.
