HVAC labor costs?

Hello! I have a Lennox system and the evaporator coil (C33) has gone bad. It *is* under warranty, and my HVAC company is going to replace it, and charge me only for labor. They have quoted $877 (yes, $877) for the labor. Does that seem rather excessive?

That does seem a bit high for an evaporator coil replacement. They will likely need to replace the refrigerant inside the coils, which is typically not covered under warranty. Maybe they added that as a line item under "Labor"? Also, look for any admin or shipping fees included in the labor. They will need to package and ship the coil back to the manufacturer. These items could help drive the cost of labor up to $877. If there is only "Labor" listed on your estimate, ask what is included in the labor.

It's a rip-off but it's about the going rate from the HVAC "profession".
