Remodeling the house will be great. 60 year old house is not bad. Do not demolish it even you feel its easier to demolish but rebuilding will take a lot of time and money that you can save. Invest that money to renovate the house. Add more catchy and stylish windows and change the front. You should remodel in my opinion.

I haven’t did anything yet my grandfather finally gave me the house after me living here for 23 years it needs a Complete remodel the master bedroom is very small & also the bath it’s 2 story with 2 bedroom & 1 bath upstairs n 2 bedroom downstairs 1 bath also 2 living room & porch it doesn’t have garage which I want & a larger kitchen I don’t know where to start so I start at the bank to see what type of loan I’m lost I plan on staying here forever I just want the best for my dollars once i Get a loan bc I have a lot of ideas I just want it to come to light

Live - it doesn't even cost half that in some areas to build a 5,000 sqft house. Location is important.

Make a list of what changes you want in the current house.

Figure out how much cash you have to put to this project and and what size mortgage you can get and afford. Your bank can help with this.

Contact a local home improvement company and ask for an on-site appointment, explain what you want and your rough budget for the project.

Well congratulations on your new old home! Wonderful! And feel good about being in a position to make changes to it. I can sense a bit of panic, though. As graywings123 recommends....make a list. What do YOU want to change...FIRST! Trust your instinct. And take things one step at a time. It is NOT a sprint, it is a marathon. But you need to savor it, too. Enjoy the process. People here will affirm that kitchen and bath remodels are the most expensive. Start making “idea books” of things you like. Dream a bit. Take your time. The reality check will come soon enough. As someone who has always lived in old homes, 60 is “middle aged” in my mind! I love old homes’ character and quirks. And their construction often far exceeds modern construction. (I am biased!). Still...it is your home. But take your time and have fun!

My house is 1900 square foot & no I do not want a brand new home that’s 5000 square foot I like where I am now o just wanted the opinion of me tearing it down or remodeling it which I believe remodeling would be my best option so I’m putting together what I want now & getting together some estimates
