Many different opinions, different ways to do things, you can soak but certainly you do not have to soak seeds. It may speed up germination, or not depending on conditions outside. You can also pre sprout some seeds, but that takes more careful handling of the seeds. Soaking the seeds for 24 hours may not be good for some seeds, but then that would have different variables and opinions also.

All seeds probably should not be treated the same way, depends on what seeds. Which seeds in particular did you mother soak?

Concur: I don't presoak any seeds but lots of folks do. It can help with emergence if you are planting in dry soil. The dark side is that the seeds are difficult to handle and can be damaged if you soak them too long. Not something I would recommend if you are planting a large area.

The only seeds I presoak is green beans. And that is to speed germination.
