how far out can you come?

maybe get a custom top (like stone or wood) fabricated to the curve, and the drop a sink into that material. this way you could have a regular sink (even though it might be small)

or, just do something like these

Thanks for the help! I can't come out too far from the wall -- the bathroom is small. I'm trying to get rid of the stainless because my husband thinks it looks like a jail cell sink. But I'm curious about your idea -- would you suggest still keeping the sink circular if we had something custom built or making just the back part curved so it can be mounted flush to the wall?

it all depends on how far out you can come. imagine a curved countertop that follows the line in the back. then you could do a shallow depth square sink and under mount it. the sink itself wouldn't have to be bowed if you can come far enough off the wall

you could even offset it and make the countertop more of a fiddle shape so that it won't impede the walkway. (if that makes sense)

I would think you could have a piece of stone or wood slab shaped to the curve of the wall, hung like a shelf/counter and mount a semi flush sink in it - faucets could be wall mounted:
