Reminds me of Lil Smooch. Very cute indeed. I have a NOID that I tried so hard to find an ID for last year. I thought maybe Opal Fire, but it’s not. It’s a seedling from somewhere (August Moon, Gold Standard closest, but I don’t know if those are fertile. I moved it to a shady spot this year because it had burned in its sunny location. I love how it looks now......who needs a name?? :-)

Two larger nurseries closed here last year too. We only have one larger nursery left. On the bright side, it is the closest one. But, boy are the choices now limited.

Sorry to hear about the death of your brother and brother-in-law. Struggling with covid-19 has been challenging for all of us, but adding deaths of two relatives must be extremely stressful. May they rest in peace.

Glad you got out to do some retail therapy. Nothing like picking out some new plants to forget the hardships for at least a bit of time. Having my garden and being passionate about gardening, made all the difference when my mom died. At least there were moments of time where I totally immersed myself in my passion and was able to forget the grief.

DJ, it does look like lil' smooch to me. Josh for sure would have it.

I am starting to like my Totie Mae more and more as it developing nice edge. Hempen waving Shadow starting to look interesting too.

I got few new ones for myself as well although am super short space and overwhelmed with what I have already. I was looking fir School bus after convention. Got an OS. Gila river came home and looks identical to my LS party dress. Rhythm and Blues OS. And new one, NR from Bob Fox, Army brat, this is seedling of Toy soldiers. Sweet Sunshine, oldie but goodies and Frisian waving steel, standout I had to have. Whew. ...

I guess I broke my own leash. The garden is getting full, and I decided to wait for a convention and get only the hostas on my wish list. Not having anything new to plant was just too hard.

For my sins I've spent the last week digging up and rearranging. It needed to be done anyway, and there's a lot more room than I thought. Removed lots of tree roots, too. Apparently everyone has the gardening bug - no mulch to be found, and I need 30 bags of it.

Josh doesn't carry Lil Smooch, but considering the mislabel, I'll add that to the list of possibles. It was the biggest of a tray of tiny hostas. They looked too small to sell, almost liners. Someone at the original nursery must have screwed up; they all had a Joan Altman label on the pot and an In the Country/ Joan Altman/ ship 7/30 tag. I popped it into the miniatures bed for now.

Linda and Steve, you each must have quite a collection, things I've never heard of. I'd be green with envy if I hadn't just put in a week of digging.

If only they would grow as fast as I buy them. Hopefully, I'm past the steep learning curve. Looking at rearranging myself soon. Too much sun for Gila River, not enough for Wave Runner. Pot up some poor performers.

Steve, hmm, do not remember what flowers look on LS Party dress. Gotta pay attention now.

Madplanter, I too received a refund for this would be trip to convention and decided it should be well spent on hostas now. Not that I have any space left, thus decision to buy only what I have actually seen and liked in person. It does not help that we have couple great hosta farms in driving vicinity... lol

Wish we had some great places close by. Over the last 10 years my favorites have had owners die or health problems in the family that made them close. One nursery was sold and went from specializing in hostas and peonies to a general nursery, and then closed.

Guess I'm going to have to start getting plants by mail order. Just watched the Hosta Society zoom chat on landscape design and added a couple hostas to the wish list. {-;

Now that some plants have moved, there's space for a couple dozen more.

I must have too many Hosta. I watched the zoom design meeting and didn't add any. Although, it was a little hectic in the beginning as I just got home and was trying to transfer from phone zoom to computer zoom. Well, there might have been one, but I don't remember what it was. I must be getting old.

Steve, I think you already have Wave Runner. Brave Attempt was on at the very beginning. I'd seen photos of them and wasn't tempted, but the plants looked a lot better on screen. That blue Tarheel was nice, too.

They didn't show all that many plants. Think how enabling a one hour hosta beauty pageant would be.

I just have met Rob recently, great guy, local to me. Missed zoom unfortunately. I wish there was recording.

I'm sorry about your relatives..life is full of harsh realities..sadly too many..time outside is a great stress reliever..gardening helps me tremendously..I love your new hostas..you people are out of my league Lol..lots of the names mentioned in this post are new to me..post pics when they're planted..or maybe you have?..my reading has been hit and miss..

I have 2 Wave Runners and just moved the shady one in to a lot of afternoon sun. It's already happier, but I'm keeping it somewhat shaded for now and we are getting nice thunderstorms in between to keep it wet. It is one of my favorites.

They are going to youtube the design zoom. They said to watch Facebook or Instagram for details. Will somebody please let the social media recluses among us know please?

bty—-I want to extend my sympathies to you Madplanter. I lost two bothers long before their time. One a sudden cardiac arrest (50 years) and the other a traumatic brain injury from a snowmobile accident (46 years). This was years ago, but it is not easy to recover from a loss like this. I hope you and your family are able to love and support each other. As you said, it’s been a tough year. So I am happy you were able to have some retail therapy. 🙏🏽

Hi, nicholsworth. All the hostas from Lowes are golden oldies. The thing that persuaded me to buy them is that they're related. Fourteen Carats is an all gold sport of George Smith, and Tootie Mae, which some rotten rabbit ate half of, is a wider brimmed version of Tokudama Flavocircinalis. They don't look very impressive, but I'll get photos posted.

Thanks to everyone who posted condolences. My brother died in March, just as COVID-19 hit, so no funeral. In a weird way it's like it never happened.
