Coordinating a plate wall?

[In summation] I am in need of some plate suggestions and candle sconce suggestions specifically! ❤️

Hi! I need some help coordinating a plate wall in my dining room. So far this is my starting piece (above). The plates will be flanking a dining mirror so I’d like a ”sister plate” for my starting piece among other coordinating pieces.

* If anybody can recommend some coordinating candle sconces, that’d be great.

* I’ve also attached samples of the artwork

Tell us about your plate. What aspects would you like to emphasize? Do you want a placeholder plate while looking for another fancy plate?

Hi apple pie! Good question I should have thought of that lol. I like the kind of mid century feel to it. I don’t love the image in the center- I could do without the “settlers in bonnets” vibe, although if I need to match it on the other side that’s fine. Moreso I just like the pink and silver border.

I tend to prefer images of people rather than fruit of flowers or anything like that. Also anything weird I tend to love.

Here are 2 plates I already own that I want to add in:

Everything I have so far is cheap like between 10-30$.

Below is one I really love but haven’t had the nerve to splurge on:

Assume because you are asking about scones you are going to put plates on a wall. Instead of having to wait until you complete the collection to create a wall grouping, an actual rack may be a good idea so you can start to enjoy and allow you to take time in finding the right ones.

Plates don’t have to have a theme or color coordination; the more varied, the more interesting and opens up more options when looking.

I would hold off on sconces, no matter which way you hang the plates. Your ideas on size and style could change or may decide not to use at all

Hi Maureen! Don’t worry I definitely don’t plan on being too themey! I guess I mostly worry about balance because there will be a mirror separating the two sides of my plate wall. For this reason too I don’t think a rack will work (plus I already have holes in the wall where I placed my starter lol)

Good to know. I’d still hold off on the sconces. When you have finished placing plates, if you provided a picture you may get helpful advice re sconces‘ style and size

Unless you have some sort of sentimental attachment to the pink rimmed plates I would not use them anywhere near the paintings, which are very nice indeed. Nor would I use the stylized gentlemen plates in your dining room with the art you have posted.

IMO a plate wall will detract from the pieces you show and I would like to see the space . I rarely like mirrors in DRs and for sure not a mirror with a bunch of stuff around it. A picture of the space and the mirror IMO are a must.
