When does it bloom? Are those blooms fragrant? Do they form seed pods that are viable?

It’s blooming now. I didn’t detect a scent. They must reseed as I have so many..

Given that it's blooming now, also that it has large dimpled blue leaves, and that it makes seedlings, and assuming those flowers are white and not lavender, this may be some close relative of Sieboldiana Elegans. Or maybe it's the real deal, but I don't think so because the leaves appear very dense and slightly unruly in their form, while Elegans has flatter leaves.

In which case it should probably be in full shade, not baking on a hill with western sun. I have lots around the property and was wondering if I could come t hem to plant as groundcover under a large maple tree.

It looks similar to two that I have right now that also are blooming, so if it turns out to be something other than a seedling, I’d love to know. I agree with liquidfeet, Elegans has flatter leaves. However there is one photo in the Library labeled Elegans which looks like an Abiquiu Drinking Gourd or a Love Pat. All the other photos of Elegans show it with large flat leaves.

Do white buds turn lavender?

All of these suggested are 5’ across. That would be fabulous if I could space that generously. Am I looking at a decade to fill out to that size?

I understand that the original Elegans was lost and that we have many different iterations of Elegans now. It's a really old cultivar. It's the "blue" hosta. So, I guess what I'm saying is that all Elegans are not the same, as we don't know exactly what the original looked like. So, it might be Elegans.

Flowers tend to bleach. So light lavender would look white as it ages. Given good growth and a nice size start you should reach your 5' in about 5 years.
