Media console table under TV

How much space should be beween media table and wall mounted TV. Bottom of TV is 44 inches from floor. Looking at media console from 24' high to 33". high. Have been told not to leave much space between table and also it does not matter. The TV is 44 inches wide and table is about 60'wide.

As the TV is wall mounted, the standard console table is 32" ish. I wouldn't do a low one. It was probably designed for the TV to sit on it. Your're not going to put a lot on top of the table, as you don't want it cluttered. The table is to hold any electronics, dvd's, etc below the top. It would be nice to not see the wires running from the electronics to the TV running up the wall. You can install two pull boxes with some smurf tube to hide the wires. I assume the power is behind the TV already.
