Liked it so much I got busy. This top will go into the bin to quilt next year. I have a lot of projects I'm trying to get done around the house, then the holidays will be upon us.

So I sent the pic to my family and my brother replied, "So there's some quilt batting going topless for a while?" He's so funny.

Bev, you have been busy and it looks great! I only have about 20 blocks made. Does it look like your stash of scrappy 2 1/2" squares are any less? lol Your brother had a really good and snappy come back. LOLOLOL

We never seem to run out of scraps, do we? I'm dying to start another one. A snowball with scrappy nine patches in-between. Quilting is usually my late afternoon activity after I have been on my feet all day doing other stuff. So while I tell myself I don't have time to quilt, once I poop out I figure, what the heck, why not? So I probably will start another one even though I tell myself not to. LOL

Very nice, Bev! Your brother's remark sounds like something my brother would say. I love doing scrappies but I am always short on lights/neutrals. I guess bright colors and busy prints catch my eye at the fabric store. :)

Donna, I generally have to buy the neutrals. The light yellow squares in my previous quilt actually came from a vintage sheet.

LoL, grammyp! I did have to think for a sec to get it. I'm not as quick as my brother. He is a riot. I wish I could share the funniest thing he ever came up with, but not online. Hopefully I'll make it to retreat sometime and can have you all in stitches.

Today I'm busy washing all the vintage sheets my sister-in-law gave me. Not enough for a quilt yet, but I may be able to use some for backing.

Bev2009, In case you're interested in stocking up on easy scrap patterns, here's another one. No neutrals unless you want them. Also, you don't have to make the blocks wonky if you don't want.

Both patterns are wonderful! I have many 2"x2" squares I could use instead. I'm bringing them to the retreat btw ;-P

Bev and Sharon, I really like your quilts. Sharon, I'm especially drawn to yours. It seems scrappy and wonky are meant for each other. Were the strips of the two colors you used to surround your 9-patches 2-1/2" wide too? It looks like they were a bit wider. Great work, both of you.

Lois, The above picture is the one I used to make mine. Mine is dull and I like this one better. I don't remember the size I cut for the strips around the 9-patch, but I remember cutting 2 strips extra wide and the length a little longer than what I wanted the block to be for trimming. That way, I could cut the strips from 1 or 2" from the sides diagonally from end to end. That gives 4 wonky strips for each side of the 9-patch. Not sure if you understand what I mean or not. Draw it out on your grid paper and measure......this is the one I did.....sorry about it being blurry.

I agree, Lois. The dark background looks burgundy on my screen. Burgundy and pink are one of my favorite color combos going way back to high school when I made a burgundy and pink polyester top and shorts. And did I mention my currently living room. LOL
