A nice beginning, Nat! Things are getting underway here also. Christopher Moody is lovely, I like The Band Played on too, nice hosta. Where are you growing in 4b? Seems similar to me 50 miles west of Chicago. I’ve already had bud drop here and I believe I figured out why. My earliest bloomer was sending up three scapes, the last scape was developing when we had two weeks without rain and I didn’t water. That scape dropped all of its buds, the other two scapes only dropped one bud each. Hadn’t had any drop from this particular daylily in the past and never had a late spring with no rain in two weeks.

Thanks, Sherry! I am in Northern Iowa. 99% of my daylilies that are going to flower already have scapes, yes even the late ones, but for a couple of true lates like Final Touch. So it's going to be a short season. i just hope, judging by the first flowers, that they won't be as damaged (splotchy, deformed) as last year. How about you, do you have a lot of scapes?

Ah, see yours has never done that, but Grace Brooker is always like that, and some others. Not a good cultivar for this climate, I guess. We've had adequate rains so far, can't complain ))

Like Sherry, my favorite of the daylilies is Christopher Moody, with No More Tears as the runnerup. It always seems to look beautiful for you. Your shady spots with the hosta look relaxing, and I think the white NOID peony is gorgeous. it's a shame Grace Brooker has dropped most of her buds.

No more Tears is a pretty one and I am learning to kue doubles and that one is soft and pretty.. I love peonies and those are so pretty. It is too warm in most winters for them to do well here. Christopher Moody is just gorgeous!

Wow, those are nice starts to your season. I'm zone 6 and still no blooms here. I have the peonies white with red bits and the white with yellow center ( very fragrant). I'll check my markers to see what the names are. All of my peonies bloomed a couple of weeks ago.

Lots of nice ones here to start your season. I like the color of No More Tears and The Band Played On. The hosts look lush and green! Peonies are so pretty.

The white with a yellowy center is labeled Duchess de Nemours. It is highly fragrant. the white with the bits of red is labeled Festiva Maxima. Here are pics for comparison. These were taken back in early June.

Years ago, when I was trying to ID them, the name Festiva Maxima kept coming up but for some reason I decided that's not what I have. I don't remember, maybe blooming season, it's supposed to be early and mine is the last to bloom.

Duchess could be it! So fragrant, yes. The yellow is picked up by camera but irl it looks very white, I'll look them up again, and thanks again.
