Attic Fan noise at night

What would make my attic fan make noise at night and during day it runs fine without any noise?

Nothing, anytime it runs it would make the exact same noise. It does not know the difference between night and day.

The only thing that is different between day and night is the temperature of the attic. The heat during may be causing metal to expand and keeps the fan quiet. At night this metal shrinks and creates noise. Exactly what is causing this is hard to determine. Maybe the blade clearance to the fan cage has something to do with it.

May be that you just notice the noise more at night, like when you go to bed? Noise from life all around you is greater during the day so the fan doesn't dominate the noise spectrum?
