Hubs and I purchased a house that was under construction about 3 weeks before Covid and because of that I have been doing all the shopping and picking things online only.

This builder is a man and his son and this is his fourth house so he isn't all set up for me to choose things from his list. I've been told that pretty much anything from Home Depot or Lowes and of course, given a paltry budget ($7,500 for all cabinets and counters, $1,200 for all ceiling fans and lights...you get the idea). We are ok with the allowances because 1.) I consider myself a pretty thrifty shopper and I considered it a challenge. 2.) the selling price of the house is about $25,000 less than other new construction houses in the area, 3.) we are ok with kicking in a few more dollars if we go over budget.

It started with a light...This one to be exact (though I would use different bulbs because I don't like the edison bulbs):

I loved this light and knew I wanted to work with it. I thought it would look good over the small kitchen island and I worked up a board:

Oh and the spider light wouldn't be hung like that. We would cluster the bulbs and shorten to the appropriate length.

I wanted to pick a white paint for the open concept house except that I know whites are so hard to pick, especially doing it over the computer so I ended up with what I had in my last house which is 'SW Popular Gray' and even though it wasn't the best I knew it wouldn't be hideous.

I picked the basic white shaker cabinets but without having an actual door sample in hand I needed to pick a pretty basic counter top that I thought would work and ended up choosing Spectrum Snowdrift.

It's amazing how things just snowball and now the kitchen is in and I'm not sure any of it will work (excuse the bad lighting because there are no lights installed yet

I have not picked out the pulls or back splash yet. I think I can even change my mind on lighting if need be. The only thing I know can't be changed is the living room ceiling fan and I figure it isn't that big of a deal.

Should I stick with this black, kind of rustic theme? Should I change? If I change, what do I change to? Any ideas on back splash and cabinet pulls? I'd like to think I have a pretty good eye for these things most the time but not seeing anything in person has taken it's toll on my sanity and is making me second guess every decision.
