I would call this a starting point. Some medium/small trees at the back corners, small flowering trees along the fence center, groundcover below, semicircular lawn backed up by retaining wall, enlarged landscape bed along house. Add another tree when the trampoline goes away.

I suggest you draw a base plan (a measured-to-scale plan view showing only those things which will remain permanently -- house footprint, patio, fence) and start organizing ideas on copies, or over the plan with tracing paper. It is not too easy to communicate ideas accurately in a distorted perspective, as above.

@Yardvaark Found some graph paper! Each square equals 2ft. The workable space is 60 ft 5in x 41ft. The pond currently takes up so much space I'm rather surprised our yard is actually that large.
