That’s weird for sure. Never seen that either.

It’s American I believe it is from an American retailer and not vintage. Store only opened in 2016. They don’t buy vintage things. I was mistaken, though, this piece I do have is meant to have a metal bar placed on it not a basket.

Have you tried contacting any of the major hardware suppliers online?

Maybe they can direct you to an appropriate source for further identification, or a suitable alternative.

Perhaps go back to the store where you bought your piece and ask for the manufacturer’s name. Often times you can buy spare parts from the supplier. The other idea is go to an old timey hardware store and ask the clerk to find the part. Sometimes that works for odd stuff. (And I still don’t understand what the part is for. LOL.)
