American Persimmon?

This tree was found growing in an alley and out of someone's backyard there. The leaves on the sapling were about ~4" long, and maybe ~5.5" long on the branches from larger trees. It sort of resembles an American Persimmon, but I don't think they normally have tiny tails on their leaves, and which are also usually droopier. So, what is this?

Leaves look prunus-like to me, persimmon leaves are typically very shiny/polished on top. Bark -- not sure.

Looks like persimmon to me including the persimmon leaf blister galls. I've found shiny leaves aren't a prerequisite...the leaves can keep their matte/pubescent appearance for a good part of the summer before finally getting to dark glossy green.

I thought Prunus leaves all have finely-serrated edges?

Yea, I wonder if it might be an Asian Persimmon, perhaps? I saw no fruits, though?
