What is it you want from the shade? IMO solar shades have bonuses they control light and heat and best of all allow the view during the day and also daytime privacy they do not however provide night time privacy so I often apir them with drapes or inside mount the shades and outside mount roman blinds for the night time.

I need color in the room. The kitchen cabinets are off white. I have Taj Mahal quartzite countertops and the room is painted with Benjamin Moore soft fernwood. I would have the Roman shade placed over the honeycomb shades.

You've got a lot going on in that room. If you want to introduce color, I'd replace the honeycomb shade with a fabric waterfall roman shade that has a privacy lining. Keep the lines simple.

Also? Get a paintable grill cover for that vent and paint it the same color as the wall.

You can always frame in the honeycomb shade with a sheer or translucent curtain or drapery. I would use a nice print in your case because the honeycomb fabric is already a simple color.
