Current frame is 8" tall - not sure if you can even do drawers without adding height.

Invest in a plain but sturdy metal frame for your mattress and box springs. It is likely you can adapt your current headboard to a basic frame.

I thought about the low rise 4" box spring, but that is still way high. That is why I was looking for a platform that would allow me to get rid of the box spring all together, but I have not bought one like this and don't know exactly what I should be looking for.

How about a folding bed frame. Descriptions says all but a twin will hold up to 4,000 pounds. You do not need to use a box spring.

The issue with the platform frames is that they are 14" high. Want the same height platform so I can remove the box spring and lower the bed. This would only lower the bed by 3 inches and I really need 8 or 9 inches removed.

Yes, the platform frames as shown above are meant to take the place of a box spring. You need a low profile platform. This is only 12" high. How high is your mattress?

We just bought a mattress and made the mistake of getting a 9 inch box which all sits on a metal 7 inch frame. in other words the bed is too high...hard to get in at night and bed spread is too small and etc, Is King Size. Not returnable but does have a warranty with the company that made the mattress. I called the store to ask if the mattress and box could be set on the floor without the metal frame (saving me 7 inches.) I was told by the store that, yes, I could do that and it would not void the warranty. Could you do something like that? Save dusting under the bed...right? No storage though.

A "hollywood bed" -- only wheel high -- would almost be as if you're setting your box spring on the floor.

I think for now I will remove the frame and just use the box on the floor until I can find an 8" platform. Never thought it would be this hard to find.

Room and Board has beds that are meant to be used with no box spring and many styles that would look good in a MCM home. I believe they style their beds in the photos with a 13" thick mattress so that would give you an idea of what your 15" mattress would end up looking like. I have a sofa and two chairs from them and plan to get the Jennings bed this year.

and instead of the box spring they told me to get 5 1" x 3" x 60" pine boards and two 30" x 80" x 1/2" or 5/8" pieces of plywood. Screw the boards to the plywood and place it in the frame, pine board side down. Cover the plywood with cloth so it doesn't snag your mattress. Set the mattress on top without the box spring.

Replace your box spring with a bunkie board.

So you're basically creating your own platform. Glad you found your answer!

Was just going to say just ditch the box spring. Just add more heavy duty slats to bed frame and done.

Wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded and gave me food for thought. Never thought it would be so hard to just find what you need.

A regular platform bed will hold that weight no issue and the reason you get a free box spring is because they serve no purpose and people are figuring that out. They do not use bow springs in Europe and I have never owned one either . Junk the box spring beef up the support on the frame if you are worried and please post some pics of what you are dealing with

New bed with frame and box spring feels way to tall for room and furnishings.

Just put down flooring and painted so other furniture is not yet in the room, but the dresser is a Broyhill Sculptra triple dresser 30" high.

The headboard is vintage unknown maker walnut/cane reversible headboard 36" high
