(1) My husband hates the normal transitions between tile and carpet. One he liked was in a casino where the transition was flat (carpet was almost recessed). What are good transition options? (2) We are thinking of taking out our brick fireplace and replacing it with a new linear gas fireplace. I'm not sure who to ask to remove the brick fireplace. The exterior lines of the house and roof will need some modification to remove the chimney bricks. Who should I contact about the new, modern, linear fireplaces? I'm in Houston, you'd think it would be easy to find someone. After the old fireplace is removed, some sheetrock work will be required (I'm guessing probably not by the fireplace installer).
