should i remove this seemingly dead bush trunk?

I'm new to anything gardening, so please forgive me if I'm asking dumb questions. I noticed that one of my bushes is practically dead. I'm considering to rip it out from the root and see if the other bushes (there's probably a better term I should use) will "fill into" its space. worst case is that there'll be an unsightly gap.
Please notice in the photos that the dead bush has all yellows leaves and my hope is that the bush on the left side of the photo will fill its spot.
What do you suggest I do? If I should replace it, does anyone know what type of bush this is?
