Lynn, how seeds are saved is extremely important. Thank goodness there's lots of great info on the internet!

First, they need to be clean and dry but since you're dealing with seeds directly from mailorder, that's not a problem.

Secondly, they need to be in an airtight container of some kind. You can keep them in the original envelopes and all together in the same airtight container. Then give them a place in the fridge, hopefully the coldest shelf.

I use a glass food storage container with a locking plastic top. I also pour a cup or so of plain white rice in the there to help absorb any moisture.

If fifty people were to respond to this, you will get fifty different methods, but dry, airtight, and cold are three three main requirements.

Most, but not all, of the seeds that I'm storing want to be dry. I store them in small (1120 & 1150) pelican cases with Dry & Dry packs in the boxes (not the actual seed bags) in the fridge. So far, I have had excellent germination.

Me, i use small plastic "Beed Boxes" with individual containers that look like something you'd keep your contact lenses in. Very convenient and accessable.

I place this in a dark spot of my basement which stays cooler in the summer but not freezing in the winter.

Dry Dark Cool. That's the key. I don't believe fridged is completely necessary, but it doesn't hurt.
