We have some solatubes. We have one in a windowless bathroom and it is great. Turned it from a dungeon looking room to a light filled room. There were two installed in my living room and they placed them smack in the middle of the room. I hate those as they look horrible during certain parts of the day. I wanted them near the edge of the room and they said they should be in the middle. I had no idea they would look as bad as they do where they put them. I think had they been put near the edge where I wanted them they would not have looked so horrible. They definitely do lighten up the room. Something to think about is that I have the opaque lens on them and perhaps if I put the white lens in they might not look as bad. Just some things to think about when you get them. I’ll take some pictures tomorrow for you to see what I am trying to explain.

Yes! I have a large Solatube in the kitchen and it really bright up entire area. Great in the Winter times too.

Also consider painting the ceiling of your porch a light color if it isn't already. that will help brighten your interior.

My daughter had 2 in her kitchen and one in a bath. They brought in tons of light far into the night which was surprising. They look as if there is a light on all day, I can’t tell you how many times I tried to shut off the light in the bath because it looked as if it was on. They do recommend placement according to the size of the room but on a porch I doubt that would be a problem. It is the tube itself that reflects the light so it’s not dependent on the roof like a skylight.

Solatubes are amazing. I have had one in a kitchen for 15 years and I *still* try to turn off the light when I leave the room, only to realize it's sunlight. I'd be putting them all over this house but for incompatible HVAC ductwork placement.
