We just bought a new house and want to update the kitchen. We plan to refinish the cabinets, add new hardware/sink/faucet, new light fixtures, replace the microwave with a hood, and replace all countertops with new quartz.

We are stuck on what to do with the island.

1. Should we turn it 90 degrees so seating is facing the window above the sink and make it slightly bigger?
2. Build out an new island that includes an “eat-in” side which will eliminate the need for a kitchen table (which would probably be a small 4 seater)? I’m seeing this more in new build homes.
3. Any other ideas to give this kitchen an update while staying within budget?

Our all-in budget is $30k
