What area of the country? What heat zone or is your climate heating dominated or cooling dominated? Also there is no "standard loe argon".

House is in mn zone 6. I figured there wasn't a standard but the spec sheet from the marvin paperwork just says loe argon with stainless spacer. Is there a better spacer that can be specified in Cardinal glass?

Using 180 on the few windows facing south will give you a "feels-good" moments on beautiful sunny winter days, but won't do much for you as an actual heat source in winter unless you have provisions to incorporate that solar heat as part of the overall design plan of your home. In summer LoE-180 could result in rooms that are too warm unless you have wider south-side overhangs...24" is perfect as long as these overhangs are just above the windows and aren't second story overhangs and first story windows.

If you have a lot of glass facing west, I would suggest that you consider LoE 366 (or possibly even LoE 452 if available) might be your best option for all west facing windows, and LoE 272 in all of the other windows. Even in Minnesota you want to minimize solar gain on west-facing windows.

There is no better spacer available than Cardinal's newest stainless spacer called Endur. If the paperwork doesn't specify Endur spacer, then ask for it. The original XL stainless steel spacer is very good, but the Endur has better edge-temperature performance values.

Grids would be 2over 2 instead. This is the only photo i have now but the front is similar.

Without seeing the house that is not something we can offer an opinion on.

Now the pic is there. Have a picture of the entire elevation? But I do not like the look of those grids at all.
