Question on building attached garage to house

I’m looking to build an attached garage with 2nd story for storage/possible livable space down the road. I’ve mocked up an image and concerned about the garage looking bigger than the house. Also, the garage roof pitch would be 12/12 and my house is a combination of 8/12 and 5/12.

Do you think it’s fine the way it is or should I make adjustments? I’ve already dropped the garage foundation by almost 2ft due to my side yard slope to help lower the garage. It would sit around 8 feet taller.

House is over 150ft from road and not very visible.

The 2nd pic doesn’t reflect dropping the house by 2’. When you do, it should closely align the top of the garage doors. (9ft high doors vs 7ft high on existing garage).

another thought was to set back the garage by a few feet, giving illusion of it being slightly smaller.

Yep, it looks like a garage with a house attached to it. Any chance you can make the new garage shorter and add a second storey over the old garage? Can you turn the garage so that it's a side load?

Here is a house that has been added on to gracefully.

Unfortunately I have limited options and can't rotate the garage 90 degrees due to layout of my lot and slope. I have code requirements where the garage has to be attached (originally tried for a detached garage).

Adding second story over existing garage wouldn't be possible; it would be easier to finish the current lower garage area into livable space. I really do not want to go any smaller due to possible need for an office in 2nd level of garage. I added the center gable which I think looks a lot better than if I just had a regular 3-car garage - it tends to blend in much better with the other gables of my house.
