need help with kitchen runner

What color/pattern would you recommend for a kitchen runner under the sink? Was thinking a blue pattern but not sure if it was too much...

Extra points for stool + valence recommendations, too!

I think something like this would be so pretty.

You can absolutely introduce blue, but your fabric choices should have some gray to tie back into your kitchen, which is gorgeous, btw.

You mention needing stools, but you have some. Are you wanting to change them out? Budget? As for valence options, there's millions of choices. What kind of pattern do you envision?

I LOVE the one Megs suggested...and by the way Ruggables are awesome! I wash mine every week and they’ve held up for over 2 years. Great quality. Beautiful kitchen by the way!

@K R, I am also looking into them, but curious about the washing, especially the larger sizes like an 8x10. Do they really fit in the washer?

@megs1030 thank you! I was looking at Ruggable. Those stools are not ours so exploring other options for stools. Maybe something not as heavy looking.

@kroftygal, From a design point of view, your floors are quite red, you have red brick outside the window, I’d go for an oriental rug that features that beautiful deep red - but I’m (infamously) not a fan of rugs in the kitchen.

Now if you’re talking about a Gelpro mat, I’m with you. They make standing at the sink more comfortable, and they make washable rugs that fit over their mats as well. Check them out.

My valence recommendation is, don’t get a valance. They block a lot of light, and you don’t need one with such extensive trim.

For your counter stools, I’d prefer something lower in profile that doesn’t feature brown wood, but perhaps speaks to the metal accents instead.

@eam44 great feedback and love those stools and good tip about red tones- didn’t think of that! Thank you!

My pleasure. What a lovely kitchen you have! I found these stools while browsing as well. I thought the acrylic legs might be cool, but I have no idea what they would be like to live with.

I have something similar to the second stool eam suggested in her first post in a dark grey leather from CB2. You want them? Don’t really go with my kitchen as well as I hoped and not particularly comfortable when sitting for a long time.

Hi @nhbaskets! Long time no read! Uncomfortable seating is the worst. What are you replacing your counter stools with?

{Waving to eam} I have yet to find something I want to spend money on. When we built this house, we brought the stools from our previous house, which I loved and were super comfortable, but natural cherry didn’t go in my new white kitchen. Sold those and picked these up at a C&B outlet nearby. That was 5 years ago. Still looking. :( Maybe kroftygal and I could both find something that would work!

ETA: I’m looking for a runner, too.

@nhbaskets, OK, a runner it is. Here’s what I see for your space.

I like the second one and think it would work with my LR rug that is nearby.

That is the Lebrun Handwoven Flatweave Wool Area Rug in Blue and Ivory by Charlton Home and it comes in lots of shapes and sizes, including the 2’3” x 8’ runner.

Oh, and this is what I see at your counter.

@nhbaskets I’ll take a look at CB2! So many options!!
