I had White Swan at my other house. It was in an area with purple coneflower, and I'm not sure whether it petered out over the course of time or whether it reverted, but it eventually disappeared. It was nice while it lasted, but truth be told I prefer Shastas -- the white of White Swan isn't the clean, sparkling white of daisies, and I consider daisies the ultimate cheerful flower.

Funny though -- I couldn't grow a Shasta to save my life at the other house, there was just something about the soil or environment that they balked at. I finally just gave up. Here? My daisies are glorious :0)

Virgin white does well for me here....Nice clean white and long blooming.

Like mxk3 my White Swan coneflowers petered out. Becky Shasta daisies are good - too good about spreading though :-). And daisy flowers do not fade gracefully :-). Lots of deadheading required, both to prevent seeding and to get rid of the unattractive faded flowers.

Thank you so much to everyone who responded. I do have a patch of Shasta daisy Beckys and I know they can sometimes be finicky. They seem to be especially sensitive to overwatering. I'm actually researching some ideas to advise a friend here. I was not familiar with the Virgin White, so thank you very much GardenHo for suggesting that. I had to look it up and I discovered that it's actually used in the famous Lurie Garden in Chicago. I will definitely be on the lookout for that one. Any more feedback would be welcome also.

I grew it at my last job in a children's garden. Maybe we didn't grow it long enough to see it peter out, but coneflowers around me all tend to "peter out" due actually to too many Peter Rabbits and deer constantly eating them. What I loved about White Swan was the unexpected beautiful scent.
