there should be a piece of molding that goes around that base for a cleaner look.(and it would hide the stain)

these are examples of what I would do

take a door into a paint specialist and get it color matched. have the trim work done and paint it w/the same color of the cabinets. Easy. and will look 100X better.

However, the contractor who did the floor staining should have taped off that portion of the cabinet so that stain didn't get on it. If it's been months, why now? Why wasn't something said before you paid them?

there is nothing that you can use to remove the stain without ruining the paint. So the option is, have the side of the cabinet repainted (where are the cabinets from?) or, do the trim work to hide the stain.

Did you ever tell the contractor about it? or the floor refinisher? at any time?

If so, have him come out and take care of it. Call him up and remind him that he never fixed this. see what he says. tell him you want the trim work done like I've shown in the pics.

I like the trim idea - thanks! Honestly that area is high traffic and I assumed it was just some gunk/dirt I needed to clean properly - I basically didn’t notice or didn’t put much thought into the possibility that they would be this sloppy and leave actual STAIN on a cabinet! I figured it would wipe away easily - it didn’t dawn on me until I was actually cleaning it.

We never actually met the floor guy… We were just getting some stuff done upstairs and tacked the floors on to that project. I guess it’s worth trying to get in touch with the contractor… We with someone more affordable (no surprise there) so I just figured he wouldn’t even respond, especially a few months after project completion.

When you say paint specialist, would it have to be a kitchen paint specialist? Just wondering what search terms to use if trying to find somebody who can help. The manufacture is J&K cabinetry… I’ve actually tried to reach out to them with a separate issue with a cabinet door and never got a response. I’m tempted to drive to one of their distribution centers here in Denver just to get somebody to talk to me. As you can probably tell, I have very little faith in these companies and the work that gets done.

it's a common complaint w/people/companies. after they take your money, they want nothing to do with you.

when I said paint specialist, I meant someone who is familiar w/matching colors via their paint computer. HD can do it, but I wouldn't call them specialists. Maybe Dunn Edwards or a larger paint store that has those paint computers could get you close to your color. take in a door so they can scan the color.

I'm sure J&K gets their cabinets from a factory, already sprayed. sometimes they use paint colors you can match, other times the use their own paint w/their own names (so you can't buy it anywhere) You could reach out to them again and see if they have any touch up paint in that color. but again, they spray their paint and you'll have to brush it on. it might not look good.

That's why I said to just do the trim work and use the paint match. they should be able to match the color to the point where you won't see a diff. And the added trim work will give the cabinet a finished look.

I had similar happen to me. I decided to ignore it. No one will notice it.

In our last house the floor guys got black stain on some of my white trim. It came off with dawn dish soap! As suggested I would get some trim from the manufacturer or a new side skin.

I had a new cabinet installed in our bathroom. Well, a few weeks later I was coloring my hair, red no less, and did not notice the drip that went right down one of the doors! At least 6" of red. Saw it the next day and could have cried!

Luckily, the cabinet is white and I had a white paint pen and nothing to lose. It worked, you would never know the red was there.

Take one of the doors and get a color match. It's easy enough to do.
