I would take down the wire shelf and add a cabinet or replace the wire shelf with something substantial. I would also try to find some fun wallpaper that coordinates with the rest of the home.

I never like open shelving in a space where what is on them is not worth displaying so a cabinet is amuch better idea. As for w the walls there is so little wall space IMO wallpaper would be a waste just a paint color that makes you smile everytime you open the doors is what I would choose and honestly it caouls be any color , really not nessessary to go with the rest of the decor.

There are a ton of peal and stick options on Wayfair too. The walls need to be flat without texture for it to stick. And paint needs to cure for 4 weeks before applying or it could bubble as it gasses off. I love the idea of a fresh pattern on the wall as well as cabinets. Even if only a bit of pattern show It could be fun. But painting and hanging cabinets would be quicker.

Very hard to suggest wallpaper, when we don't know what the rest of your home looks like :-)

How about a sunny pretty yellow? Laundry rooms should make you happy...so sunny.

Peel and stick tile that incorporates your color scheme and suggest cupboards on either side, and in middle a drying rod and a shelf for easy access to detergent.
