its basically a green hosta ... so there is no real limit on location ...

its root growing time.. where they store energy in new roots for next springs emergence.. so its a great time to do it ....

just keep it well watered ... if drought or heat comes along ... [well or city water.. whatever]

there really isnt any mystery to hosta ... just do it ...

Ginrei is a Montana found in Japan. Hostas in the Montana family will grow well in full sun to full shade, but generally do best in at least half sun. Morning sun is preferred, as the afternoon sun can cause bleaching. The Montanas do need watering, especially the first year or so, and they are well known for being slow to add divisions. The more sun a Montana gets, the more quickly it will multiply. In my area, there are quite a few huge clumps of Montana Aureomarginata being grown in full sun, and they multiply at a good rate, but the edges do turn a parchment color rather than staying bright yellow. You will want to mulch your plant to help retain moisture, but don't crowd the mulch up against the hosta.
