There is no scale shown but the design looks overplanted to me. I do like the idea that the designer focused mostly on CA native plants suited to the live oak growing conditions but might pare down the quantity.

What is it about the salvia you dislike?

I agree about the quantity of plants. For example, we are not going with all the Heteromeies, just one, closer to the house to provide privacy. We'll continue the fence down the left side of the garden to separate from neighbor's yard.

Re: the salvia, I don't love the way it looks, specifically the color and how it appears in the wild, as opposed to online photos.

Thinking of replacing the Muhlenbergia with Lomondra Platinum Beauty. I think the Lomondra would glow during certain times of day under the shade of the oak... What do you think? (I know it's not a CA Native...)
