Is it a seedling or a grafted plant?

Seedling. (Seed still on it. )

Being a seedling no worries about cutting off the extra branch if you don't want it branching that low. If it had have been a graft you would have to be careful not to cut off a graft branch and leave a rootstock branch.

My concerns are good growth and fruiting. If there will be no downsides to this structure then I am fine with it.

Is it going to go into the ground, or stay in a pot? Keep in mind, seedlings take much longer to fruit than grafted trees.

Had not thought about grafting. I have a 3.5' tree that has grown in the ground for a long time. I clipped the top to make it branch, but it didn't. I can say to it : "Don't want to branch, eh? Well here comes a branched implant."

Grafted trees tend to stay shorter and fruit much sooner as the graft is from an older tree which is usually already at fruiting age. Fruit is true to the parent plant of the graft so you know what you're going to get.

Seed grown trees tend to grow much taller but because they're not mature they can take years to fruit. It's fruit won't usually be the same as that of the parent plant, and in fact can be much worse.

That's why many people prefer to get a grafted tree. Much sooner production and predictable quality of fruit.

You don't want twin trunks on a fruit tree. Just clip one off and all the energy goes into on trunk to make height.

I mean,you could leave it..but most likely what will happen if after years in ground,the Mango will favor one and the other just doesn't look right.

Low branching is not the same as this.

How about removal of both thin stems, and grafting to short thicker part?
