Every slab must be tested. I wouldn't do a built-up edge without an adhesive test of several months. Figure out a non-bleeding gasket at the undermount sink; no silicone.

It was renovated in the summer of 2015. We sold it the following summer. We did a lot of cooking during that year, and it cleaned up well after my husband cooked. It was sold in a polished finish from Stone Source, bur we took the shine down to a honed finish. The edge was built up with a mitered joint and eased corner.

I stumbled on your thread regarding quartz, quartzite, marble, etc. I am in the exact same boat as you -- love marble but not for my kitchen. Was leaning towards Taj Mahal or Mont Blanc quartzite but some threads on that scared me too. I am not a fan of quartz at all. Even the "most natural" looking among them look too perfect/contrived veining. So then I found porcelain slabs and I love the look of those!! Was leaning toward that, but am nervous of chipping. I was wondering if you ever landed on a particular counter surface and if you're pleased with it?
