Something told me I shouldn't throw away the big branch of Bathsheba my neighbor's dog broke off, but I have never been successful rooting offspring so didn't try to save it.

This gives me hope to get cuttings if I ever have to move without digging up the roses.

Very interesting video, although I have one question. When you say you start your cuttings in half soil and half sand, do you mean potting soil? I have the horticultural sand and all sorts of potting soil, compost,(which is an amendment/fertilizer here. I know in England compost usually means actual soil.) Do you mix the sand with half container type soil from a bag? I’m guessing you don’t use soil from your garden. Thanks, Lisa. PS. How is your Louise Odier?

Lovely video - you are very generous to share it. I would give one word of caution to rose newbies who do not garden in England, however, which is to, as usual, consider the conditions under which this way of rooting cuttings succeeds so well. Mild, more humid climate than exists in most of the US, for example. Not too hot, not too cold, not too dry, sun not too harsh, not too humid, just right (like Goldilocks and the three bears) to be able to just stick cuttings in pots in the out of doors and have so many root happily.

Thanks Darren! Will try some cutting this fall. It has been a hot and dry summer up north here. Waiting for the weather to cool down. I tried a few cutting last fall right in the garden and in a rose tree pot, none of them worked.
