Sixty acres sounds wonderful! The brick face is a relatively recent addition, correct? The multi-colored pattern doesn't look like old brick to me. You can paint brick, which I think could look nice, but that cancels out the low maintenance that is the primary benefit of a brick house.

Yes, the acreage is wonderful. I'm a horsey girl so my animals are loving it :) I was thinking of a siding, maybe a faux log or something but don't know anyone with any experience in using these types of things. Also, thinking of some type of porch roof or something to break up the look. This is actually the back of the house, but it is what you see when you drive into the circle driveway in front of the grass.

Since you now own such a historic piece of property, we would suggest adding functional shutters to the facade of your home. In the olden days, people would add panel style shutters on the first floor for protection and privacy and louvered style shutters on the second floor for ventilation since heat rises.

I would consult with an very experienced builder to find out what your house's construction is. You may have energy issues to address.
