If the builder allows it, you can try to put those items on your 3-month punch list, but likely the builder will say no and try to blame you for the damage. There were a couple of things that I missed, like a scratch on a glass door that the builder refused to replace because I couldn't prove that it wasn't my fault, even though the cabinet only held towels. You could try to bypass the builder and use the warranty for certain things like the kitchen cabinets if the manufacturer offers a warranty on the cabinets. Otherwise, chalk it up to an expensive lesson learned.

Is that it? Painted cabinets will present issues. Use of touch up materials and experienced individual will help . a single or a couple door or drawer front May need replacing. Inquire who can assist you with the team you are working with. Beyond that or if that will not help you the cab maker rep in the area can assist ... new construction will work in your favor. But make calls . If that is the extent of it in a way you are lucky . Painted cabs builder grade would be a NO for me so be patient you may end up just fine.

Yes the builder grade is where I should’ve known better. I almost always am unsatisfied with the kitchens when I have gone to open houses dor new construction builds. So I’m mad at myself for falling for the thing that bothers me most. The house I left had 3/4” solid wood cabinets. My kids beat the crap out of our kitchen and you couldn’t tell. It was also stained wood rather than painted. The pre owner had put them in and I can’t imagine how much it would cost me to duplicTe that here.

So sorry. Follow through as recommended above. Even builder grade should last more than two weeks.

Good point. Custom really doesn’t mean qualify. Again, I knew better too. So mad at myself.

LWO, is that why the drawer head photo looks like a thermofoil door? He used caulk on the recessed panels before painting? smh

My advice? Live with the cabinets as long as you can and redo the kitchen down the road. Maybe just reface if you have quartz tops...which it looks like you do. Or pay a fabricator to remove and reinstall the tops after you have new cabinets put in....but must be exact footprint if you reuse the tops. Make sure you work with a kitchen designer who's experienced...stay away from box stores. Where are you?

And that’s why some of the paint is goopy where the raised parts meet the recessed panels isn’t it? Bc it’s caulk? Super. I’m from another part of the country - I sure got duped. Yes for warranty and it’s in cabinets but we will see what that actually means.

LWO for my own edification, what would have been the proper way to construct this style of cabinet? Also the drawers aren’t dovetail which I have read conflicting information. I personally think my furniture with dovetail drawers is much sturdier.

Should be still covered under warranty. Have the builder send a service guy to fix it and what needs to be replaced order you a replacement, like that drawer. never seen a cabinet drawer box with exposed and unfinished plywood edges...Seeing that I would assume the drawer side was damaged and they replaced it with a piece of plywood.

Every drawer in the entire house is constructed this way. Bathrooms and closets in addition to the kitchen.

GN are these normal materials for the drawer? Should they have been painted and then I’d never know any better? Again asking bc my precious kitchens were so much more solid. But I did not install them.

I never saw anything like it, the inside is usually painted or clear coated (like in your case) but there are no rough plywood edges like in the picture you posted...
