Anyone have sliding doors in their kitchen cabinetry?

OK, well, one of the reasons I like the idea is that it’s an unusual choice. I’ll let you all know what I decide.

It’s expensive, to very expensive. It needs an upper end cabinet line, or an expert upper end custom cabinet maker. More precision is required than for inset. The coplanar sliding is the way to go if you’ve got the right cabinet maker. Omega offers them. Super nice.

Thanks @User. Expensive is accurate. It would be a custom peninsula. I heard from Scherr’s and even though this is not something they regularly do, they are able to do it!!!!

Honestly, that top image has made such an impression on me, I hadn’t really been excited about the cabinetry until I saw it. Granted, I didn’t realize what a feat of engineering and art it would have to be. But I’m going to have a gorgeous group of cabinets in a key, highly visible spot in the kitchen, with a wonderful MCM vibe. I’m very excited about this.

i'm not sure what you decided on this, but we have sliding cabinet doors in our kitchen right now and we really hate them. They just get left open all the time and you can't open both sides and see everything in your cupboard all at once which is a pain when you are searching for something. It's one of the main reasons we are re-doing our kitchen. They could just be a poor design though!
