Before doing anything change all the bulbs to LEDs in 4000K then see what would help to brighten up the space I would start by doing a different backsplash ina simple large format glass tile to work with the counter and the floorand do not run it on the side wall by the desk I would also not do tile on the bar.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting Thank you so much for the advise. What back splash would you suggest? Also for the bar should i just do paneling? I definitely want to paint the cabinets some shade of white with a tint of gray. Can you recommend any colors? Also i was thinking for my island should i just end up doing a darker color for the cabinets and find a piece of gray /white quartz?

I really like your wood cabinets. I think they give nice warmth and contrast to the gray floor and walls. If it were my space, I'd change the backsplash first.

I think the combination below would suit your floor and counter. Wouldn’t tile the small area on right of your desk. Suggest removing the tiles from the lower bar area and just paint (including brackets) and add stools and use black hardware. Once completed, you could consider new pendants to compliment the new look

Yes, if you can take the tile off the knee wall I would definitely do that! It could be painted to match or an accent color.

@Maureen Thank you so much for your advise. I wanted to share the counter top picture. It is actually dark brown /spotty with grays and a rusty brown/orange/peachy color. I was wondering if I paint the cabinets white with a tint of ray to pull out the grays in the counter. For the back splash I want a glass tile but not sure what color to pick( light or dark?). Also for the hardware I was thinking either something which is more neutral but i cant find anything. I have attached the picture of my counter top and the hardware which I came across while researching and the back splash. Would really appreciate your input. Thank you :)

    uld really appreciate your feedback.

@BeverlyFLADeziner thank you for your input. Just wanted to clarify by brighten I meant to update my kitchen and make it more contemporary and modern:) I love the white counter with the gray veins (Calacatta Monitcello or Calacatta Lazio Quantum Quartz) but I want to update without the added expense of changing the counters. Any feedback will be appreciate. Thank you

You really see don’t see a ton of grey in the countertop‘s picture. You could paint the cabinets cream instead of white to stay in the warm family

Personally I don’t like glass tile as I find it busy and think it will be too much with the granite‘s pattern. Suggest staying with a solid backsplash and bring home a few to test, as it’s the best way to decIde. I’d suggest a cream similar to the cabinets, keeping colors and pattern to a minimum. Easier on the eye.

The hardware, paint color, lighting and bar stools should only be decided on after cabinets are painted and backsplash is installed. There are many important decisions and you want to be happy with the results. I just repainted my cabinets and after 22 hours of work, hated them and decided to paint the lowers black, which I love but I’m lucky it turned out. Good luck

@Maureen thank you. I just feel that i want to move away from the cream family since the rest of my house is leaning more towards silver/chrome accents. My wall color is light grey and i would like my kitchen to have a more contemporary vibe. I appreciate all your feedback:) .

I really like your counter and cabinets and think changing the backsplash and adding hardware will help alot. But. Like the warmth of wood. I wouldn't paint the cabinets. I'd look for brushed nickel pulls to work with your stainless appliances and also hint towards the gray you want in the room. Pull a gray from the countertops and backsplash you choose for a new wall color. I have a Valspar color "smoked oyster" throughout my house. I love it. The lighting in a room totally changes the color. It is on the brownish side. Looks gray, tan or brown. Depending on shadows. I would change the bulbs to a bright light. Soft white makes things look yellow. It seems real harsh until you get used to it. But keeps the color of things true.
