It doesn't look like a virus. It looks to be something cultural. Take good care of the plant as one normally would and this problem should clear up. It looks like it may have had too much water. Make sure the porcelain pot drains or that this plant is never sitting in water from rain that didn't drain out of it's lower pot. Feed the plant a very dilute fertilizer when watering once in a while.

It's not clear what the plant is but would just add to the above comment by saying not all plants are equally susceptible to mosaic virus (even though there are any number of different kinds) and many will never experience it at all. And there usually needs to be a vector or a transmitting entity, typically an insect, so even less common in house plants than it is with outdoor or inground plantings.

I'd also agree that this appears to be cultural rather than pathogenic so would evaluate soil media, watering practices and fertilization before looking elsewhere

Forgot to mention the plant! It's a small potted chilly plant bought from a grocery store. It is potted in a nursery pot that sits in the ceramic one and I only aerate and bottom water it every 9 days. Its possible that has become too often with the falling light levels of late summer. The respective leaf dried and fell off and it has not showed the symptom since. I initially thought it might be magnesium deficiency but it is not showing on any other leaf and the way I understand it, it should have green veins with yellow leaf, but in this case it was yellow veins, which confused me. I haven't made any changes to its routine and no other leaves are showing distress. I will keep an eye on it and keep it away from other plants. Thanks so much for the replies!
