Great idea! For me, I would add a plant and a statue, something classic like a roman bust or a horse’s head, but it could be anything you love. Dunelm and Etsy do some very reasonably priced art. To keep the weight down choose resin rather than concrete. I think classical rather than modern.

Maybe wrap the head in a paper bag...

Given a stone statue could kill you if it fell on your head I would chose something lighter to put on that shelf. What about a fake palm leaf to compliment your curtain fabric, painted to match your colour scheme?

I like the idea of hanging a stag head and I would hang a beautiful floral wreath around its neck to make it more delicate and bedroomy. Gorgeous frame btw and lovely idea.

As the frame has to be landscape rather than portrait orientation, I don’t think the stag head would work. Definitely something to think about for the future, though 👍 Some great pics there

It could be anything. But what can work really well is to frame something that means something to you. For instance, we have framed a pocket watch I bought my wife. It never worked, but it was beautiful. So we set it to the time our son was born and put it in a frame.

Silly gifts, especially if they are a little left of field can look great in a frame, as long as they mean something to you. Their beauty is deeper then. My wife always wanted a bubble car, so I bought her a tiny model of one, that's in a frame too.

The nice thing about how. you have done your frame is that you can keep changing it. The plants against the black look good, ferns can look especially good in this sort of setting (and make the aire nicer too).

Brilliant stuff, Lee. This is something I decided to do anyway but I’ve since decided to market the house and want to be more appealing to a wider group for the purposes of staging. For instance, I have a pink glass objet in my kitchen that I wouldn’t dream of leaving out for photos or viewings, but it’s a great talking point with friends 😂

A modern abstract painting..of course -- it's all about the difference!

I wanted to get away from the notion a frame has to have a painting. Hence the minimalist, barely there glass shelf and the more obvious display items. Lots of paintings have no frames these days so I’m turning that idea upside down and giving it a little shake 😊
