IMO you start with a media cabinet at least 25% wider than the TV I would also suggest you look at Besta from Ikea in this situation it will give you a place for the V some storage and a bit of display IMo that large TV and a small amnt. of display is all you need Make sure whatever you get for a TV stand keeps the TV at the proper viewing height, The middle of the screen should bea at eye level when you are seated. Something like this would work well

Our townhouse was built in the early 2000s so modernish, same for our taste in decor. A long media console is definitely on the cards. If I do a gallery wall around it, how large do the largest frames need to be? All the pictures I have found so far have smaller tvs and frames, so I am having a hard time visualizing how it would look with a 75 inch tv.

I don't see why a dark wall wouldn't work.

Personally I dislike the look of a TV with artwork around it like a gallery wall.

I also really like the look of a wood slat tv wall (like in the picture, except a lighter wood). Would that work? I found some tutorials for how to diy and we have the tools.

Get a cool looking media console. If you like vintage, look for a MCM walnut piece
