Ming aralia slowly dying

I got this plant 9 months ago. It started dropping yellowing leaves as soon as it got home...and it never stopped. Now the main trunk has died (the branches died one at a time). When I cut this one down, it was really dry inside, but another, thinner trunk wash mushy and brown at the bottom..,root root? Now trunk by trunk leaves start getting limp (even when green), the new growth on trunk doesn’t get too far and dries out, and new growth in the bottom get. Is there any chance I can save this?

The plant in in a bathroom right off a East facing window. I water it every 10days, maybe 8 when my husband tells me “it’s supper dry”! (But he waters succulents every other day). It’s still in the same plastic pot from the nursery.

I would like to hear your theories and suggestions: Should I let It die? transplant the whole thing? try to divide it and save the healthier looking part in case of root rot? try to grow back from cutting?

I will be thankful forever.

Here are some photos. I forgot to mention that I’ve seen little flies around the las week.

New foliage never got that dark green color that the healthier-older leaves had :(

If it is potted in a shallow bowl, that’s not enough room for its roots. I’m also not sure that it likes that corner in the bathroom. Repot in a larger but not too large pot with holes and move to a bright location. Remove any rotten pieces as you repot. If your potting mix is moist, do not water for a day or so. Be careful not to overwater. You might be able to save it.

Oh my! Doesn’t look happy. all berried in the pot from the first green leave down...will see. thank you for your comment.

Do you happen to know if this plant would do ok in my porche? the next brightest room in the house is a small living room with 2 big air vents, and I run the air conditioning often in this zone 9 where I live.

I my opinion it would love your porch. No direct sun for now. You are correct that it might not like the blowing air conditioning.
