A double Marvin casement set up w existing header w grills to look traditional which is presumably your style , i( f 2 dbl Hungs were prominently placed like that originally) .... sliders can be made to look traditional as well . Depends . Go to a showroom . I have Marvin infinity sliders and casements and Marvin integrity casement as well . Marvin is a great company as far as creating a look or blending w existing etc The screen up grade means that interior screen can not really be perceived ... at least not to my eyes .

I like my slider for my kitchen window. It is easy to slide open at a distance I can reach. I think double hung is the worst for above a kitchen sink. My second choice would be casements. You want to spend the money for a high quality casement and hardware.

Awning is a very popular choice over the kitchen sink for ease of operation along with maximum viewable glass area. Cheaper than a twin casement as well. With any cranking window in the this location (awning or casement) be mindful of the location of your faucet to avoid any interference with new window hardware.

If the interior screen is a disqualifier, a slider would be better than twin double hungs imo. Again, easier to operate given the reach over the counter, and more glass with a meeting rail of 2" or less as opposed to a mull of 5-7" of frame material.
